I took this picture while walking along the coast on Long Beach Peninsula in Washington State, USA. Huge flocks of birds looked for a meal in damp sand despite wet, cool, windy weather.
I took this picture while strolling on a path often used by bird watchers. Cool, damp air hung above the trees, but a tad of sunlight peeked through the mist to bring out the wintry colors.
This little duck was watching us while we were working in our back yard. S/he stared at us while we worked but would dart away if we walked up to the edge of the canal. However, the little dude would return when we moved away from the water.
This is a picture I took a few years ago of lake Pend Oreille in the panhandle of Idaho, USA. It seems to fit the winter holiday season perfectly.
This is a picture of close family members. It was taken decades ago. The setting is the walkway that led from the dirt road to our farmhouse.
This grand, old tree was cut down a few years ago, but I had taken this photo of it before it was chopped down. I had been strolling along on quiet streets when this wintry scene took my breath away.
This beautiful madrone was growing along a hiking trail near Beaverton, Oregon, USA. I was stunned by the gorgeous colors. The brightest Christmas lights couldn’t be lovelier. I just had to take this picture!
This gorgeous heron didn’t seem to mind icy temperatures. She/he was patiently waiting for a meal to swim by. I managed to sneak into the shrubs surrounding a pond to capture this image.
I took this picture while walking along a gravel road running along a cornfield. The lighting was at a great angle to bring out the colors and details of the old corn stalks. Rain clouds were just starting to roll in. Not long after I snapped the shot, rain burst forth from heavy gray clouds.
My better-half went on a hike that led him into snow. He took this picture while walking along a trail.
