Five years ago, on February 15th, our son Vyeshka passed away. He was a “rough-and-tumble” child and a gentle, attention-seeking old man. We held him in our hands as he drew his last breath at age 14 years, 4.5 months.
Today, we celebrate his life. The love he gave us will live beyond the end of the universe. What a joy it is to know we have him as a guardian angel watching out for us!

In this picture, our beautiful little girl is just one year old. She passed away on June 5, 2015, at the age of 11 years & 9 months. I can’t believe she’s been gone in body so long! It is probably because her spirit continues to watch over us. She’s a guardian angel!

Our son, Vyeshka, passed away on February 15, 2019. He was with us for fourteen-plus years. This is him at only one year old.
Although he left the physical world four years ago, his spirit remains with us. He, along with his sister, Byelka, who preceded him in death, watch over those who loved them.
Valentine’s Day gives us an opportunity to reflect on those around us we hold dear. This includes fellow humans as well as other forms of life. Those we love are treasures in our vast world. One of my Valentines took this picture in a flower garden a while back. Nothing shouts “LOVE” like these flowers and waterfall.
I took this picture while walking in a park. The park featured a wetland habitat with ponds, marshes, and lush shrubs. Even though it was wintertime, fabulous colors graced this bountiful landscape.
This pretty hummingbird was zipping around a wetland pond for quite some time. Finally, it settled in a shrub, so I was able to capture this picture. I love the feather colors!
I caught sight of this pretty bird while strolling in a small town in the mountains of western Oregon. Snow had fallen, so this bird must have been hungry. I walked up close to him/her and took this picture. S/he just kept on eating.
I took this picture while walking along the coast on Long Beach Peninsula in Washington State, USA. Huge flocks of birds looked for a meal in damp sand despite wet, cool, windy weather.
I took this picture while strolling on a path often used by bird watchers. Cool, damp air hung above the trees, but a tad of sunlight peeked through the mist to bring out the wintry colors.
This little duck was watching us while we were working in our back yard. S/he stared at us while we worked but would dart away if we walked up to the edge of the canal. However, the little dude would return when we moved away from the water.
